All the facts and trends point to this one inescapable conclusion. Unfortunately, “doing video” the right way is a much more complicated process than using Twitter, which is why we recommend it first.
Setting up YouTube and/or other video sites, creating videos, uploading them, tweaking them for SEO and then promoting them, is a very involved process. It requires familiarity with many different disciplines, and can be very intimidating, even for otherwise advanced marketers. Undertaking serious video marketing efforts are not for the faint of heart. But given that YouTube will even pay you for great content, it can also be an intrinsically profitable activity, beyond building one's brand, driving traffic and generating leads.

The YouTube principles apply to the other video sites out there as well. YouTube may well be the “big dog,” but it doesn't mean the others don't count. In fact, some of the most prestigious sites online (and therefore powerful, SEO and ranking wise), are other video sites like Vimeo, Daily Motion, Veoh, Viddler, Metacafe, etc.

At the risk of repeating myself, let me again state the obvious: not only should you be “doing video,” you should be sure that your videos are going out into your Twitter feed, because there they serve double duty!
In point of fact, you really should pump ALL your relevant videos out into the other social media venues. This means, your vids should go up on Facebook, onto Google+, out to Tumblr, etc., etc., etc. This can be automated with the right software, or done manually (of course).
