Worse yet, and more often than not, the “gooroos” have built their lists on the backs of bigger, more successful marketers via joint ventures – something not open to the average IMer, and not representative of the situation most people face. More often than not, many of these so-called experts are spouting the same tired-old theories that have been around for years, but actually have not the first clue on how to build a list from scratch themselves.
Ironically, despite all the difficulties inherent to getting and keeping a list, as the noise level in the marketing space continues to rise and ad response rates fall, the value of the list rises in inverse proportion. Think about it this way; you're a trusted advisor reaching a prospect in a moment of quiet and concentration, as opposed to trying to get their attention as a dubious stranger in a crowded marketplace full of carnival barkers, colorful clowns and distractions galore.

The value is same whether you're an internet marketer or a brick-and-mortar store-front owner.
